As the investigation and charges continue to swirl around the sudden death of Michael Jackson you have only to look back to see how long he was taking prescription drugs for pain as did Elizabeth Taylor and Lisa Minnelli and many other famous entertainers. The media speculates about what came first -did Michael Jackson associate with other stars who took painkillers to the point of addiction, and did he follow their regiment. Who introduced Michael Jackson to the “Dr. Feelgood” doctors of Hollywood doctors who push prescription pain killers for cash?
Selling illegal prescription drugs and multiple doctors prescriptions which overlap is a matter the Food and Drug Administration has failed to regulate due to their politicol alliances to drug manufacturers.
Stiffer warnings, a drug registration system that records every prescription given to a patient and the date and time is required and more regulations of “who, why, where and when” these dangerous pain drugs are prescribed is necessary. The Obama administration has to fill this legal loophole and make these drugs less accessible by multiple doctors to the same patient. Stronger legislation is required to regulate physicians who prescribe a multitude of pills at the whim of the patient and without regard to multiple drugs interactions. Basically physicians do not have a database of their prescriptions and no control of medication to the rich and famous where there is a potential of abuse.
Elizabeth Taylor a very close friend to Michael Jackson had the same addiction to painkillers and she has been in and out of drug rehab centers and hospitals while dealing with a painful back injury.
The two Toxicology Reports of Michael Jackson should be made public -so that people can be aware of what killed him, and investigations should reveal who gave him these drugs. Of course if you have the resources Michael Jackson had at his disposal -namely tons of money-you can get anything you wish in the way of prescription drugs.
The Hollywood doctors must be held accountable for their profits before safety of the patient and total disregard of the dangers of these drugs, especially diprivan which is an anesthetic drug used to sedate patients before surgery. This is a very dangerous drug mixture combined with the rumored addiction that Michael Jackson had to Demerol. The toxicology reports from the State of California should be available in August as they do take weeks to perform a complete picture of the combination of prescription pain killers that Michael Jackson had in his body at the time of death.
Lisa Minnelli said in an interview on CNN and CBS Early Show upon learning of Jackson’s death:
“All those who knew him well really know what he was like, and I’m sure that now the accolades are going and I’m sure when the autopsy comes, all hell’s going to break loose. So thank God we’re celebrating him now.”
Did Lisa soemhow know that Michael was being sedated to the point that he did not know or could not have known how many pills he was taking or what was being injected? It doesn’t appear that Michael Jackson’s overdose could have injected himself that many times with injectable drugs -he must have had help with those types of prescription or unauthorized drugs.
The lack of regulations have to do with political affiliations of politicians with drug companies and the obvious lack of laws, and a lack of a national registry for prescription drugs needed in any new overhaul of health regulations.
