Earthquake victims, writhing in pain and grasping at life, watched doctors and nurses walk away from a field hospital Friday night after a Belgian medical team evacuated the area, saying it was concerned about security.
The decision left CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta as the only doctor at the hospital to get the patients through the night.
CNN initially reported, based on conversations with some of the doctors, that the United Nations ordered the Belgian First Aid and Support Team to evacuate. However, Belgian Chief Coordinator Geert Gijs, a doctor who was at the hospital with 60 Belgian medical personnel, said it was his decision to pull the team out for the night. Gijs said he requested U.N. security personnel to staff the hospital overnight, but was told that peacekeepers would only be able to evacuate the team.

Only an apocalyptic sci-fi horror story written in the 1940′s published by “Strange But True!” or a current daily weekly tabloid with questionable sources could get away with such graphic headlines. Sadly, this horrific front page teaser is based in reality not fiction.
Newborn babies with their hearts, livers and brains removed from their tiny bodies have been discovered throughout the countryside far from the prying eyes of the urban ghetto of Port Au Prince.
Nighttime raids on Orphanages are becoming almost common place. these raids are called by locals as the sweetie bread hunt.
It was only a few years ago when reports of mud cookies made of salt , butter and dirt had many skeptical of such wild claims. Many called it propaganda for more Aid relief by the corrupt Haitian government.
Yet, such doubt quickly faded when cable news confirmed and filmed this strange Haitian diet on the evening news.
It was only 3 days after the disaster that shook Haiti to it’s knees, did shocking reports of dead being used as roadblocks in an attempt to force aid trucks to stop in the streets for the sole purpose of being hi-jacked and looted by Haitian gangs. It’s contents sold for profit on the black market. Leaving many of Haiti’s desperate,weak, injured and starving to do without.
On the 4th day of the disaster, gangs wielding machetes roaming the streets have been hacking off limbs of victims unlucky enough to be holding drinking water out in the open before being robbed. On days 5, 6 and 7 acts of Necrophilia have come to light. Sex acts upon the recently deceased and murdered have become the new sport of the day for the Haitian male. Even the Killing of search and rescue dogs brought over from the states have been eaten for food.
It makes one stop and wonder, can any amount of aid or reconstruction cure what ills the haitian people.
In my mind the answer is no. You don’t need a crystal ball to see Haiti’s next two hundred years will be the same as it’s past two hundred years. It is my opinion that american peoples money could be much better spent on anything but Haiti and it’s people.
The mainstream media has an obligation to report the truth to the American people! Tragically political correctness has become the rose tinted lenses by which all news is reported.
