Travel in 2010 -The Terrorist Security Tips

Your travel experience in 2010 will be fraught with restrictions as a result of the December 25, 2009 flight to Detroit from Amsterdam.  This was the flight where a young Nigeria terrorist tried to ignite a bomb in his underwear but was captured and subdued by other passengers and airline security.  This changed the way you will travel in 2010 and in the next decade.

Security on both sides of the Atlantic is stepped up and the US has requested that all countries carry out thorough inspections. Luggage will be emptied out and increased security levels with new measures will ensure all passengers and all luggage will be inspected with extra delays.

These new security measures will affect air travel as travelers will seek alternatives to flying in this new decade of increased security measures and pat-downs. Other alternatives to business travelers could include teleconferences, web presentations, Skype and other modes of communicates to avoid the cost and hassles of air travel in the years to come. Some may chose to drive rather than fly if time permits and planning ahead would be recommended.

1) Arrive at the airport early at least 3 hours before a flight mandatory for the screening process at airport check in. Check with your airline well in advance of departure for changes in check in times which will be altered.

2) Get your airline ticket online as well as your seat selection and do not take carry on luggage on the plane where ever possible -check all baggage.

4) Identification keep your ID, airline ticket, boarding passes all in one folder and take all government issued photo ID certificates you can find such as a drivers license and your passport. These documents will become increasingly necessary for traveling in the next decade. Two non-government identification certificates maybe accepted to prove your identity.

5) Your cell phone, laptop, electronic games or other electronic devices should be charged and ready to operate for inspection at security for they will be turned on and screened. Depending on new changed rules electronic devices may be banned while on board the aircraft for security reasons. Why not just read a good book or watch a movie during the flight or better still get some sleep.

6) Blankets and pillows maybe banned or confiscated during the flight so dress warmly with warm clothing if you are traveling in colder climates.

7) Never accept or leave any parcels unattended in the airport, the washrooms, while you are seated and at any time do not leave your luggage unattended until it is checked in by the airline.

8) Electronic Body Scans will become necessary for the screening process before boarding which will show your partially nude body to a screener so don’t be camera shy it is for protecting your life as well as others.

9) For your own safety do not even joke about “hijacking the plane” you maybe tackled to the ground in no time at all. If your obtuse enough to say the word “terrorist“, bomb, or any such statements you can expect to be arrested, miss your flight or thrown in jail. You may also have to remain seated during the final hour of the flight and if your spending a long time in the bathroom -you may be questioned or prohibited to do so.

10) Sharp Objects or Knives: you cannot travel on a plane with any sharp objects such as knives, nail cutters, box cutters, scissors or any sharp object that can be used as a weapon, pack those into your suitcase or leave them at home.

All measures are kept top secret and will be made permanent or in place of other security policies.  Airline travel will definetly change in 2010 and those who are prepared will save time.
