Oct 2, 2010 CNN Fires Rick Sanchez for remarks he made on a radio interview regarding Jon Stewart and Jewish people.
It seems at this early stage of the incident that CNN is pulling a Tom Vilsack on Shirley Sherrod.
Wait a minute? Is CNN actually run by Jewish people? OMG. NO!!
So what’s wrong with a rant against Jon Stewart and Jews? Everyone else is taking a shot!
Do Jews really run CNN? Wow. Don’t they control the media too? Can’t we all just get along?
Here’s what Rick said and we don’t think it called for his firing. CNN is way off the beam in sensitivity here. Pulling a Tom Vilsack and Shirley Sherrod.
IF you listen to what Rick Sanchez said this was not such a terrible statement and if you consider the bantering back and forth between Stewart and Sanchez on their respective programs -it seems entirely in line with their dialogue.
“Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company,” CNN said in a statement. “We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well.“
CNN said it would broadcast CNN Newsroom from 3-5pm for the foreseeable future.
The CNN host has been the frequent butt of “Daily Show” jokes, which may have contributed to his ill-considered comments yesterday on Pete Dominick’s satellite radio show.
First, Sanchez called Jon Stewart a “bigot,” though he walked the comments back a bit later.
Dominick: How is he a bigot?
Sanchez: I think he looks at the world through, his mom, who was a school teacher, and his dad, who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I’m so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could ever imagine.
Dominick: What group is he bigoted towards?
Sanchez: Everybody else who’s not like him. Look at his show, I mean, what does he surround himself with?
Then, he suggested that CNN is run by Jews.
I’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority? Yeah. “. End Quote.
Sanchez was pointing out the financial differences between him and Jon Stewart and actually he is right there are more jewish people running CNN than when Ted Turner was around and he’s not very happy about how CNN has been run now either.
Some bone head at CNN went off the cliff on this one -what race is spared ridicule and what race has not been the last man on the totem pole. Lets see we had immigrants in the 1940’s from France, Italy, Ireland, England, Greece and the rest of Europe after the World War II. Which race was spared prejudices, comments, jokes and being through the new kid on the block. What fifty year old today does not remember being kidded in school for where their parents came from?
Lighten up Jewish people? We’ve all been there. Lighten up Muslims your low man on the totem pole now.
You have to go through your initiation in society and take your shots but we all get over it eventually if your a reasonable person
CNN is definitely going to suffer a ratings loss here as Sanchez had a Hispanic following and many will just shut off the boobs at CNN, most of their staff is leaving anyway.
