Michael Steele Chairman of the RNC
Michael Steele the Republican National Committee Chairman is become increasingly disagreement with the RNC about managing campaign funds. Funding issues is what caused Arlen Specter to deflect to the democratic party and internal riffs may be brewing up another Republican failure to re-organize the party. Tensions lie with the comptroller-treasurer who is administering the funding program and undermining Steele’s authority. Steele is finding that his one time friends are stabbing him in the back and he is not liking it. Steele has had to contend with the rants of Rush Limbaugh, and George Bush who streamlined the boys club to only hard core conservatives.
During the election the Republicans were hurt by comments from John McCain that insisted the country was in good economic shape although the meltdown was well underway. Many have called Michael Steele the token Republican African American to counteract President Obama as the first black President who Americans have voted for in a large majority last year. It is obviously plain that with newcomers such as Megan McCain’s pro-gay marriage statements, Rush Limbaugh’s attacks on anything that Michael Steele is losing patience with the conservative right wing factions of his party. Who can tell what inducements President Obama is sending Michael’s way “wussup.”
