Senator Arlen Specter has defected to the Democratic Party stating the Republican party no longer represents his values. At a news conference this afternoon he will make an official statement as to why he is leaving the Republican Party after many years.
The Democrats could not be happier at the news and are thrilled to get closer to a majority in voting thereby eliminating needless filibustering by the Republican Party in the Senate. Senator Specter himself stated the Republican Party had left him -rather than the other way around.
