Robert McNamara Dies at Age 93

While John Kennedy was President in the 1960′s and later under President Johnson Mcnamara later wrote a that “we were terribly wrong” in his 1995 memoirs.

McNamara’s son was a war protester as his father became the engineer of the large scale invasion of North Vietnam with very little success. The Vietcong guerrillas fought the war in the jungles of Vietnam and were virtually invisible -making them harder to capture or irradicate.

Robert McNamara a Republican became the Donald Rumsfeld of his time but at least he had the courage to admit he was wrong about the invasion of Vietnam which killed 58,000 American troops virtually a slaughtering of our troops.  Many returned with very little help from the VA with some being sprayed with agent orange.  At one time there were 500,000 American troops in Vietnam which caused much civil unrest here in the US.

The Vietnam war lasted from 1959 to 1975 for sixteen years it became the longest war in the history of the United States.
