Politicol News: Obama’s Tech Team Announcement

December 19, 2008 12:30 p.m.
Obama’s tech announcement comes on the heals of President Bush announcing a bailout of short term loan to GM and Chrysler this morning. The markets rallied slightly to the announcement that GM will not declare bankruptcy just yet. Ford being in a better position wants a line of credit should the economy turn worse in 2009 which is quite likely to happen.
The Obama team for his technology and communications team is now called the “Innovation Team” and not much news is coming out except that Obama is likely to pick Julius Genachowski as the chairman of the FCC who will be replacing the now had a Republican Chairman Mr. Kevin Martin.
Genachowski is also the leader of the transition team and his area is working on the technology and government reforms that is the foundation of Obama’s campaign platform. Genachowski went to Harvard with Obama and was his classmate who has been employed at the Federal Communications Commission.
There could be another female as the US Coordinator for international communications in the form of Susan Ness who is a former FCC commissioner who was from the Clinton administration for two terms.
Again Obama picks most of the former Clinton administration hires following Bill Clinton’s successful team members.
