Pfizer Fights Lawsuits by Women with Breast Cancer

The combined income of both drug giants will be approximately 70 billion dollars annually as analysts predict which would increase Pfizer’s profits by 45 percent as reported by Bloomberg.

The drug company Pfizer has been facing law suits for years arising from the claim by women that they obtained breast cancer from HRT drugs made by Pfizer and Wyeth. For years Pfizer has been delaying lawsuits regarding their HRT Hormone Replacement drugs and made billions in profits. A recent 112 million dollar punitive damage award was given by a jury to breast cancer victims of the synthetic hormone made by Wyeth. This was an outrage to the jury when they found documents that proved Wyeth ignored and hid evidence that their drug caused breast cancer and yet the drug is still on the market. Where is the FTC, and FDA outrage while drug company’s continue to profit from a cancer causing drug which is still sold to the public? HRT hormone replacement synthetically made cause breast cancer.

Now that Pfizer has bought out Wyeth they are now one big corpora tion that want to absolve themselves from “any “ legal responsibility they caused by making dangerous hormone drugs and then hiding the truth from the public on the side effects. Wyeth has had to hand over their documents involving the marketing of their product, their sales and marketing literature, and their research on potential cancer causing ingredients. The estrogens used by these drug makers was made from urine from pregnant horses which is an animal estrogen given to humans and the estrogen is known to cause cancer but why did they use it in their drugs? Why did these drug makers expose millions of middle aged women with the estrogens that are known to cause breast cancer?

Today you have drug company’s still taking your money, falsely misrepresenting their drugs and refusing to take responsibility. In fact with the Swine Flu vaccine drug makers made the government pass legislation to stop any law suits against them. Why would you take any drug from these companies knowing their method of avoiding liability in any case they do not have the consumers health in mind and avoid at all cost the damage to human life especially women?

What industry gets this much favor by the FTC, and where is the FTC and why is this allowed? There is only one conclusion -drug lobbyists influencing people like the Joe Lieberman to protect themselves against lawsuits and any type of drug reform. Pfizer also is being slammed by Provera another estrogen based drug that combines progesterone and Wyeth combined the two cancer causing agents into one pill called Prempro.

Women’s groups should be outraged at the tactics Pfizer is undertaking to prevent paying for damages to women who’s lives have been damaged or who have died as a result of taking HRT drugs.

Pfizer has stalled all legal actions against it, stopping the cases from going forth and appealing the lawsuits which ties up the case in courts for years. They are hoping women will die first -before they get their day in court.

Wyeth was last year found to alter documents and had hired ghost writers to prepare reports about their HRT drugs. Wyeth then hired and paid for so called scientists and experts” to sign their name to the journals which had no scientific proof to their claims.

While US judges are reversing awards on appeal they are doing American women great harm and a disregard to the word justice in the lawsuits. Judges should not reduce awards since these women’s lives were lost or they lost their breasts, and now have a life time of the danger of reoccurrences. Either the US government should not be approving these drugs for sale or judges should not reduce awards based on a jury’s decision.

In summary women should not trust a drug company’s claims because the law is being disregarding and the will be paying for the damages themselves for the rest of their lives. The pharmas have all the cards and you are betting on a game you cannot win even in a courtroom.

News Flash:

The US courts have the evidence that Wyeth used ghostwriters and paid a company called Design Write Inc ., from New Jersey over $ 25,000.00 to write medical reports. Then Wyeth hired and paid for medical experts to put their signature on the reports which of course favored the hormone replacement drug. This is actually fraud and the FTC has not investigated this company.

Pfizer bought out Wyeth approximately in October 2009 for 68 billion while avoiding law suits for their own and now Wyeth’s HRT products.
