Dec. 7, 2009 12:01 P.M. Ottawa Climate Change Protesters Attack Ottawa-Canada’s Capital

GreenPeace Banners on Canada's Parliament Hill Protest Canada's Inaction on Climate Change Dec 7, 2009
The climate change protesters have climbed onto the roof of Canada’s capital just now police arrested 20 people who scaled the roof of Ottawa’s federal capital building in protest of Canada’s lack of action on global warming.
The Canadian police the RCMP are investigating how Greenpeace activists got into two buildings in Ottawa on the Hill and unveiled their banners which read:
“Climate Inaction Costs Lives” and Harper who is the current Canadian Prime Minister and also leader of the opposition Michael Ignatieff’s names are plastered on the banners who have done little to reduce carbon emissions. This activity today obviously poses the question that Canada’s security at the Hill are not as secure as they could be and 19- or 20 people entered the building and scaled the roof leaves the RCMP with a large hole in their security measures.
Apparently police forces had difficulty accessing the West Block where protesters were able to use the scaffolding at the back of the building at approximately 7:30 a.m. this morning and dangled themselves from ropes and unraveled the banners. Another banner said ” Stop the Oil Sands” which is a major project of the oil company’s in Alberta where oil is extracted from the Alberta Oil sands leaving the land an environmental mess.
Oil sands in Alberta has been called the “dirtest” form of energy and environmentalists have given Canada a Fossil Award which is a lump of coal signifying its refusal to clean up dirty energy. Harper’s policies have not met Kyoto targets and in this session at Copenhagen Canada’s record is very poor due to Harper’s ties to oil company’s and campaign contributions to his re-election

Ottawa police, RCMP and Parliament Hill security forces are now on the scene along with fire trucks, ambulances helicopters and are arresting the protesters. The Greenpeace protesters orchestrated this demonstration knowing that the Global Warming Summit in Copenhagen commenced today December 7th, 2009.
The climate change policies of Canada have been lacking due to a Prime Minister who refuses to accept Canad’s role in climate change and has since Harper has come into power in 2006 has refused to enact Global warming cuts and since the last 13 years Canada’s emmissions have grown by 26 percent.

The copenhagen summit is pushing the global carbon tax they want, and they decide to ’storm’ the Parliament Buildings in defiance? Total PR stunt for the CBC
Here’s a question. Was a standown order given to the RCMP?
