As Obama leaves Cairo Egypt on his Peace on Earth tour you have to look at his objectives to reach out and commence a dialogue with the world’s Muslim community. You have to look at what is flawed in this peaceful type of thinking and why there are some that say it will not work.
We have been so ingrained in war from Vietnam to Iraq most of our lifetimes has been the US at war and we know no better. We are used to watching our veteran soldiers coming home from war and littering our streets. We have been brainwashed into thinking this is the only way to resolve conflicts and we want to rescue other countries from their own beliefs.
Yes we know there are fringe elements of any religious beliefs as we see Dr. Tiller’s assassination as a clear example of violent extremists within our own borders. So are there some extremists in the Muslim community but we paint them all as terrorists.
The message being received from President Obama speech in Cairo was overwhelmingly what the world needs to hear. Some of course said it was minimalist and that he did not come down strong enough on governments who ban freedom of expression. People will welcome this outreach because that is what Obama does, he organizes through his early days in his own community. There are so many conflicts such as Palestinian and Israel conflict and there is Afghanistan and Iraq and Iran and North Korea….you would think there is enough to keep President Obama busy for the rest of his life. Quite simply there is too much conflict and not enough peaceful negotiations, so what is wrong with a novel tactic like Peace on Earth?
You have Ed Rollins from CNN disagreeing with President Obama’s views on Israel to stop settlements in the region. Congressmen Mike Pence a republican from Indiana said it was up to the Palestinian leadership to come across with more peaceful resolutions to the conflict with Israel.
What is wrong with Peace on Earth is the unwillingness of mankind to put down weapons and commence dialogue towards peace. We know no peace today because all we know is war while we watch our own fall into poverty.
What is wrong with Peace on Earth is the fact that we are much more inclined to obliterate the world rather than chose to end strife, war and killing. What is wrong with Peace on Earth for a change- is war on earth and a scorched earth mentality that has pervaded our governments.
What is right with Peace on Earth is that -it is obtainable if the willing people who just want to co-exist in the world have their say-and war is abandoned as a way of communicating with our fellow inhabitants. Peace on Earth is obtainable if we stop trying to change the world and wage wars in the wrong countries for ulterior motives. Peace on Earth is obtainable if greed is not the driving force for world domination. It is peace or war -what is the answer?
