Noam Chomsky -the US Political System

Do you want to live in a Democratic Society or what we have?
The United States is not a democracy it is a polygarchy says Chomsky where government is shared by several people.

Chomsky believes and it is true that the wealthy of the nation have the power and the rest of the population is allowed to come in every four years and say yes, you can carry on with what your doing. The wealthy class are only interested in amassing more wealth and keeping it from the rest of the public.

The twist today is not only does the wealthy class try to keep their wealth, they now expect that the rest of the population will pay their way in taxes and that giving tax breaks to the wealthy will create jobs and benefits for everyone in the country.

The turbulent times experienced in the deficits today are mainly due to the wealthy not paying their own way and the rest of the population are too poor to fund the wealthy classes including the corporations who are now considered “people”.

The public has very little to do with decision making and the powers that be make decisions on the benefit to their party rather than the public who voted for them.

The primary goal of government is to protect the minority of the opulent against the majority, that was the way the constitution was designed and it remains the ideal.

Some insights on whether democracy exists in America by Noam Chomsky

Quotes from Chomsky

“All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.”

” Everybody’s worried about stopping terrorism.  Well, there’s a really easy way: stop participating in it”.
” In this possible terminal phase of human existence, democracy and freedom are more than just ideals to be valued -they may be essential to survival”.
