Dear Rob: Your entitled to an "opinion" but your opinion cannot be forced on the whole country, its called a democracy for a reason and laws govern people. You may not agree with the laws that allow a woman to make choices with having a baby when she was forcibly raped but if you were put in that position you would want the same rights.

It also boils down to the fact that religions and government are patriarchal in nature and women have no rights at all. If also Rob you were a women right now forced to have a baby you did not care for or want, that would also be harmful to a baby. If you were also a woman married or having a relationship with a "dead beat" guy then you would also think twice about getting pregnant.

Now lets see,,, the church doesn't allow birth control which forces a woman to have a baby, then it forces them to give birth, and then when the father of this beautiful child disappears - who is financially responsible for that baby?
Assuming you are a religious person - that would be a sin. What the republican right winger - pro-life people do not understand is you don't call the shots. You can't force women to have babies they do not want, and cannot financially support with all the dead beat dads running around.

You are trying to control a woman's choices and running her very life -but are unwilling to support that mandate because as you know most republicans are against universal health care.

So Rob are you going to pay for and for a lifetime financially support these babies from teen mothers for instance? It is fortunate that Sarah Palin's daughter now has a rich momma....but millions of other women are forced to bring up children in poverty - due to the laws you envision for women. It is a woman's choice - and you have no business barging into that decision or any others.

If the Catholic Church wants to be taken seriously - they have to clean up their own act and stop moving priests around who are sexually molesting children from parish to parish. The Catholic Church has to pay restitution to the lives they have damaged of abused kids who's lives were ruined by priests. It is a sick and tainted religion of a bunch of old horny men who hide their sins in their robes....and the red shoes are not pretty either.

Whoever wrote the above " opinion" must live in another USA than I do. When it comes to Catholic church teaching, it is the STATE that has no business telling the Church or its members what to believe , or what the state equates as " moral law". The law comes from the people and is as simple as this: we will protect the vulnerable from being harmed. There is no more vulnerable human being than a baby within its mothers womb. This version of the common good is a sign of a civilized , advanced and Christian society, not a radical , legalistic, power grabing , phoney version of democracy as envisioned by the likes of Ted Kennedy or Patrick Kennedy or any self- serving politician, even if from a " very well respected catholic political family".
