The Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin banned Ted Kennedy’s son from taking communion at “his” Roman Catholic Church as the divide grows on abortion issues.
So much for the separation of Church and State as the Roman Catholic church flexes its muscles into the halls of politics and government in a desperate attempt to rule the country by its own definition of control over a woman’s body.
However the Catholic Church has been vilified over the past 100 years for allowing its priests to abuse children sexually that remained scared for life it sanctimoniously now wishes to forgive itself for its own sins against mankind. The Bishop obviously would not have made his pronouncement while Ted Kennedy was alive.
However the senior Kennedy was barred from communion himself when he got a divorce from his first wife Joan so no big deal. This means that Patrick Kennedy could go to another church and receive communion from this tainted Church that puts itself above its own laws and covers up, denies and lies about its own sins of blatant sexual acts with children by moving priests from town to town.
This move was payback for Patrick Kennedy’s statements on national television in October when the radical church spoke out against health care reform unless it restricted abortions. Here again we see the church imposing itself into state matters for which it has no part nor can the government rule in its favor. It would be like a Muslem Church telling the US government that terrorism is to be accepted. Churches do not belong in state affairs and that has always been the remarkable difference between countries like Iran that is run by old religious clerics who run a totalitarian government.
The Catholic Church has no business dictating governments and what they must do especially when this health care bill will save lives, help the poor who cannot afford basic and humanitarian medical care. These pompous overly bloated with power bishops have become the pretend to be outraged by abortion when the last pope did not take the measures this bishop took to deny communion to politicians if they did not fall in line with the Catholic Church. The Pope represents the leader of an ancient often cult like religion that has no place in modern society. The catholic faith is based on what men have written about their versions of church laws, not actually anything to do with scripture.
Kennedy feels the same way and voted against the Catholic amendment to the health care bill which imposed restrictive measures against abortion. This is just another example at how outrageously right winged the Catholic Church has become in its radical move against a very well respected catholic political family.
Kennedy wrote in his letter to the bishop “”While I greatly respect the Catholic Church and its leaders, like many Rhode Islanders, the fact that I disagree with the hierarchy of the church on some issues does not make me any less of a Catholic,” Kennedy wrote in a letter to Tobin, agreeing to a sit down. “I embrace my faith which acknowledges the existence of an imperfect humanity.”
What this move will do is create a back lash against an already abandoned church that has fewer followers every year. The decline of catholic churches clearly started when the stories and evidence of children sexually raped by priests started to emerge within the last ten years. It was the practice of the church to move priests from parishes when it was discovered that they actually raped young boys and young girls and these acts were covered up by the Vatican.
The measures taken by this bishop will be a decline in membership as more people look towards a religion which actually is not as corrupt as the catholic faith-if you can call it that.

Question: Why do horny old men wear red shoes?
Answer: tomorrow.

Dear Rob: Your entitled to an “opinion” but your opinion cannot be forced on the whole country, its called a democracy for a reason and laws govern people.
It also boils down to the fact that religions and government are patriarchal in nature and women have no rights at all. You can’t force women to have babies they do not want, and cannot financially support with all the dead beat dads running around.
You are trying to control a woman’s choices but are unwilling to support that mandate because as you know most republicans are against universal health care.
So Rob are you going to pay for and for a lifetime financially support these babies from teen mothers?

Whoever wrote the above ” opinion” must live in another USA than I do. When it comes to Catholic church teaching, it is the STATE that has no business telling the Church or its members what to believe , or what the state equates as ” moral law”. The law comes from the people and is as simple as this: we will protect the vulnerable from being harmed. There is no more vulnerable human being than a baby within its mothers womb. This version of the common good is a sign of a civilized , advanced and Christian society, not a radical , legalistic, power grabing , phoney version of democracy as envisioned by the likes of Ted Kennedy or Patrick Kennedy or any self- serving politician, even if from a ” very well respected catholic political family”.
