Gabrielle Giffords New Photos
Gabrielle Giffords new photos were released on her Facebook page yesterday and shows the progress she has made to recover from a near death shooting in Arizona January 8, 2011 just five months ago.
That Saturday morning a gunman shot 17 people, outside of a Tuscon supermarket where Giffords met with her constituents. Six victims died including a 9 year old girl, a Chief Justice and where police said Giffords was the target of a crazed gunman who had a record of mental instability.
The bullet that Gabrielle Giffords endured went through her head at close range an injury that very few recover from and some say it is a miracle she survived the attack.
The lone gunman was Jared Less Loughner a 22 year old who has been charged with capital murder, who was suspended from College and denied entry into the military.
The Tuscon sheriff at the time blamed the heated debates and the toxic political environment in Arizona in a fierce partisan war between the Republican held state and Democrats.
The Chief Justice John Roll had just dropped by to say hello to Gabrielle Giffords that morning at 10:00 a.m., and lost his life.
Gabrielle Giffords remained unconscious for weeks and initially the news reported she had died of her wounds. But she managed to survive and has made a miraculous recovery.
Giffords had been outspoken in her views of Arizona’s new immigration law that is still being fought in the courts today, which has more to do with a state taking on a federal jurisdiction and prosecution of illegal immigrants.
The U.S. Representative had also come out in favor of the Democrats Health Care Bill which brought on the wrath of soap box politician Sarah Palin.
On Sarah Palin’s website there was an illustration of cross hairs on targets that Sarah Palin felt needed to be “targeted” and coupled with Palin’s call for “Reload” she created an atmosphere of violence, guns, targeting and she came under severe criticism.
