Disorderly Conduct in Your Own Home
The policeman was out of line and we don’t quite believe his story of “trying to save the professor” from lurking black men bandits. The very call into the police demonstrates a “racists neighborhood”. The police officer should have noted the professors identification, and left. Simple.
End of story.
Instead he got into an argument with Gates, and if I were Gates i would have demanded the officer leave the premises which I am sure he did do. The officer had the upper hand in that he was an authority person under the law, and he stretched his “ego” a little to far. Just by his very stance in his photo-he looks agressive, and threatening. It is hardly believable that he “teaches” others to be racially sensitive since he was not himself at all.
I think the person who should apologize is the policeman, and I think what he said in his comments to the press that he “did not vote for Obama” says a lot too.

A Very Negative Agressive Cop Out of Control
He also said that “he did not know who Gates was” meaning he would have treated him differently if he knew he was an educated and honored “black man”. Some how the story of the policemen is bogus, and I believe he was pushing his weight around.
Too many inconsistent and demeaning comments in his interview with the press-this is a rogue policemen and he is a racist cop who should be fired.
Racism is still alive and well in America and in just about any police force you have these rogue cops who just cannot accept that they serve all people of color not just white people. This cop should have known that his agressively entering the man’s home -no matter who he was- was entering the premises illegally and without reason.
It seemed the cop was suspicious of Professor Gates and handled the whole situation very badly. This cop needs an education and re-training because he obviously doesn’t abide by the rules of human dignity and the protection of personal property since he invaded the Professor’s home.
