The response to CNN’s reporter Drew Griffin and reported on the Lou Dobbs show this week has been one of shock and also disbelief that this network would stoop to such low standards of tabloid journalism when reporting on the value of stem cell treatments and future research.
The reporter negatively cast a suspicious dialogue about the benefits of stem cell and painted SC treatments as not worthy of further investigating or research. CNN is also disagreeing with President Obama who recently opened up funding for further research within the US -so that Americans do not have to travel to foreign countries for treatments.
You have to remember this research was blocked by the Bush administration for 8 whole years, because of religious beliefs which are unfounded. We doubt CNN has thought about how many people died in the last 8 years because of illnesses that could have been helped, or stopped to progress which is a great possibility with stem cell research. CNN took hope away in two short divisive and negative reports on the Lou Dobbs Show which is a disgrace to all those who seek better medicine in the future.
There is absolutely no proof that stem cell research -WILL NOT have tremendous value -but CNN doesn’t want you to believe that-they have drug companies that invest millions of dollars in advertising revenues and they cater to those advertisers in their news stories. All you have to do is watch the 6 o’clock news hour every evening and watch all the drug company ads on CNN, you can figure the rest out yourself.

If CNN had any ethics in their reporting- they would have featured this story-but instead they can look at this beautiful young girl’s face and remember exactly the human toll -of disease, suffering and outdated medical practices that are just not working to make people better- and ultimately with the goal in mind to cure diseases. The future lies in stem cell treatments that use the bodies own cells to heal and reverse diseases -this is already proven in stem cell research for dogs by companies right here in the USA. It is an astounding fact that dogs can get stem cell treatments under the Bush administration but children like Sierra- could not have any stem cell treatments.

I googled “Sierra Journey Factor” just like that and I found a HUGE thing on Fark.com with over 200 messages/blogs regarding Sierra and some of the Horrible things that people say .. that Sierra should DIE so that her genes don’t get passed on and such things like this! People making fun of her name and where we live! Hey but we got people talking!!
People saw the CNN interview and on CNN they told the viewers that we are going to inject Sierra with embryonic stem cells WHICH BY THE WAY CNN they are umbilical stem cells only!
Even though CNN caused such a stir up with things everything all in all it got people talking and we learned even more .. since they wanna think we are “HICKS” or Morons or whatever else they wanna call us Believe it or not we do research things and talk to many people including all of Sierra’s Dr’s and Specialists .. and they are behind us and they are excited to see what will come of this!
We even are in touch now and looking into this Dr we met through this whole CNN crap he is near Tampa and has a specialist in Peru that is doing the same kind of injections with the stem cells except also they are doing Gene therapy with the SMA patients with the SMN gene (survival motor neuron) and unlike China Peru has seen more SMA patients and with the gene therapy the stem cells are working way longer than just the year – year and a half that China said .. options are available … the Peru Dr goes and stays with you the whole time and then when we are back home we have a Dr to consult with unlike China we would not have that option!! So we are looking into things to see what the best route will be for Sierra. People keep saying we are being told its a cure … we know that but we are looking more towads her day to day life … if it would help her live more comfortable that’s all that really matters!
In response to the negative comments regarding ‘Sierra’s genes’ and not passing them on, …this kind of insensitivity is indicative of a ‘warped mind’ …maybe even ‘gene’ related …perhaps it is ‘those genes’ that should not be passed on.
Here’s another thought …every person on the planet, at some point in thier life will be confronted with some kind of medical/physical/pychological or emotional issue, which ‘may’ or ‘may not’ have been passed through the ‘genes’ from family to family, or manifested in the ‘genes’ later in life, due to let’s say for example; humans polluting the planet (in one form or another). If those ‘genes’ were not allowed to continue either …what would be left? Animals & plants/trees …and a clean planet. Heaven on earth ?
Secondly regarding ‘Stem Cell’ research, or any other research that eases suffering, and has the potential to cure or eradicate disease should be studied, researched and made readily available to everyone. Healing & progress should not be stopped, prevented, controled, manipulated negatively by anyone, or anything Remember people, the FDA, the government, & big business are nothing without “the voice of the people”, and they too should remember & adhere to the oathes of medicine & science …and humanity.

Thank you for your comment and we agree totally with your post- the best, most effective treatments possible should be available to all people everywhere in the world. It is because stem cell research is being prohibited, stopped, legislated and redefining human stem cells that will prevent treatment in the USA and force sick patients to go out of the country. This trend will not stop-and when the government finally realizes that the policies and steps that the FDA is establishing will deter and make worse the health of Americans. For this President Obama needs to overhaul the FDA, remove conflicts of interest and work with doctors and patients to find cures – not with drug companies to sell drugs and prolong sickness.
