BP No Compensation for Fisherman

May 3, 2010 Who will compensate the fisherman of Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and Texas for lost income from fishing due to the oil spill? Who will compensate the four states for lost income taxes on those lost incomes?  Who will compensate the consumer for higher sea food prices due to the damage from the oil spill?  Not BP Oil but perhaps you the taxpayer will be footing the bill for lost wages to the fishing industry, unless BP agrees to do so.

Right now not one boat is allowed in the gulf to fish and BP is hiring fisherman to assist with the clean up which is progressing slowly.

Damages due to Oil Spill are Widespread

The complete analysis of damage to the four states economy is enormous and extends to every industry from insurance to food to shrimp used as bait.  Fisherman know that this seafood in the Gulf is no longer edible and added to the mix is the amount of chemicals thrown in the ocean to break up the oil particles.  Every part of the lives, economic well being and the states who will lose income taxes is affected by this massive spill of oil into the ocean waters.

Higher Prices at the Gas Pump due to Oil Shortage

Since BP oil is spilling thousands of barrels of oil into the Gulf every day for 2 weeks now will this mean higher prices at the gas pumps?   Will BP pass on the cost of the clean up to you at the pump for what amounts to be its own negligence and lack of following good practices on oil rigs by installing working shut off valves?  Is it your fault that BP screwed up big time and why should you have to pay more for gas?

Tourism Loss to the Gulf Region States Affected by the Oil Spill

The loss to the tourism industry of Louisiana, Florida Alabama and Texas will also be affect as a tourist destination who would want to sit on a beach with crude oil floating up or go swimming in the water?  You would not go to a local restaurant famous for seafood dinners which is common along oceanfront towns and cities?

Would you like a little oil with that grilled shrimp?

Most tourists are booking holidays elsewhere -anywhere but where the oil spill is damaging the summer tourist trade for the big four states.

If BP does not compensate fisherman for lost income -they can sue in court and BP can tie up those lawsuits for years and years which is typical corporate governance, deny all claims – deny responsibility -keep your profits and screw everyone else.
