FDA Approves BPA in Food Packaging

FDA Approves BPA in Food Packaging

The US Food and Drug Administration removed a ban on BPA the chemical found in cans, plastic bottles, baby food containers, baby milk bottles that interferes with the endocrine gland in adults and children. The agency cites that there isn’t enough proof that BPA is harmful even for babies.

What does BPA Look Like:

BPA is found in the lining inside of cans that contain food, anything from Campbell Soup, Tomato Sauces, fruits, vegetables, meats anything sold in a can including beer, and soft drinks.  BPA is that hard plastic you find sold at Wal-Mart and for babies formula bottles or drinking bottles.

What the FDA is saying here by allowing BPA is that the American consumer are on their own, the government is not going to protect the food packaging even though it causes cancer in favor for the plastic industry to make a profit from such a deadly chemical. It is par for the course for the FDA to side with corporate profits over public safety but this goes beyond the pale.

BPA is short for Bisphenol -A and it is in every conceivable packaging of food and drinks sold today.

The studies performed by the FDA declare that BPA is safe and they are seriously flawed in their findings.

While a host of other countries have banned the plastic for over five years, especially in baby bottles the USA remains one of the few countries where the plastic lobbyists have won this argument for corporate profits rather than public safety.

Side Effects of BPA

BPA has been proven in 130 studies to cause infertility, hyperactivity, breast cancer and depression.

BPA is implicated in cancer, obesity, thyroid problems, heart disease, neurological problems, fertility and children’s behavior issues.

While parents may think that sugary drinks are making their kids hyper it can be also the BPA in soft drink containers or plastic juice bottles. BPA becomes an estrogen type hormone and interferes with the normal body functioning even in a fetus. Especially vulnerable are young children, babies and adults of all ages.

The reason is that this chemical is in the lining of canned foods and bottles with liquid where the BPA leeches out and into the body.  The simple act of eating a can of soup will raise the BPA levels of urine by 1000 Percent!

How Consumers Can Protect Themselves

Steps you can take to protect you and your family from BPA ingesting are by:

1) Not purchasing food sold in cans

2) Not purchasing drinks sold in cans.

3) Not purchasing plastic bottles for any liquid or foods.

4) Buying glass bottled drinks, foods, and baby formula bottles made of glass.

5) Buy fresh fruits, vegetables, not canned food.

Consumers will have to do all of this until the FDA comes to it’s senses or the top agency brass are fired.

Editors Comments:

Most likely the FDA ruled in favor of the plastic companies who have lost profits for five years while the FDA took its time to decide in their favor in the long run.  The FDA sides with the corporations and not with public safety.

TSA Scanners Up In The Air

The Electronic Privacy Information Center is suing the TSA for the body scanners that travelers face in the USA, for privacy invasiveness, lack of effectiveness, and the failure for the agency to conduct radiation independent studies.

Original Post: April 3, 2012, Revised: August 21, 2012 Due to removal of a YouTube Video we referred to in this article.

The EPIC want the scanner program suspended until a full audit and review of the risks to people’s health for heavy use of radiation on security checks.

TSA Body Scanners Up In The AirTSA Refuses to Allow Independent Studies of Radiation Levels of Scanning Machines

TSA Scanners have been under fire ever since a former George Bush appointee, became the Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff, in the Obama administration and who makes money on the Rapiscan machines. In 2010, it was later revealed that Chertoff was promoting his clients scanners and profiting from government procurement contracts. (Huff Post

These scanners are assured to be safe by Homeland Security, but some scientists do not believe they are safe. The Transportation Security Administration will not make them available for independent studies on the radiation emitted on the bodies of Americans. The TSA assures Americans that the scanners are “evaluated” by the FDA, NIS and various agencies not one that is independent.

Those who object to the full-body scans are subject to enhanced pat-downs and extremely invasive manual checks. “Every time the TSA is pressed on [health risk concerns], they always point to studies that they have arranged with other federal agencies, [refusing] to allow independent experts to make their own evaluation,” says Marc Rotenberg,…More at Lawsuit Seeks Halt to TSA’s Use of Full-Body Scanners at Airports amid Safety Concerns

The TSA Scanners are up for a critical analysis on InfoWars where scientific evidence has proven that the airport body scanners are worthless. As YouTube videos are being removed we will continue to post more videos after internet censorship now requires us to do so.
