Long after elected President Bush stopped the funding of researching stem cells to cure diseases because of the use of embryonic stem cell lines for 8 long years while people died.
The problem with today’s news of 13 more stem cell lines using embryonic cells instead of adult stem cells which have no rejection factors. In fact the Adult Stem Cell therapies have had greater success therefore President Obama isn’t being given the right information.
Again the National Institute of Health Francis Collins is a man of deep faith and where does religion have any rights as to science and why is he the head of this research in the government position? Why is religion creeping into our very government policies when it comes to curing diseases why are they stopping this research?
Studies, treatments and studies show that Adult Stem Cells carry far more benefit and future cures because they are using the patient’s own stem cells not a foreign stem cell line. In fact this approval was open and shut says Collins because it met the requirements of “informed consent” of the donors.
We notice from Collins’ statement on CNN that he carefully words his comment that ” the proposed use of cells to study development which takes years, and as he puts it “perhaps grow rejection-free-replacement organs” which is a fantasy. If you don’t use the body’s own cells you face rejection factors and this will delay the real need science and clinical trials that will save lives today.
What these delays are doing is costing lives delays treatment now and people are waiting by the skin of their teeth for clinical trials to commence now. Right now in the United States stem cell treatments are being controlled by needless laws and are delaying the process. People with Parkinsons, LG disease, Alzehemers and COPD are forced to leave the US and go to foreign countries who are offering Stem Cell treatments today while the US lingers in the safety issues for years.
What is wrong with starting clinical trials now, and why are we waiting another 8 years which will cost thousands of lives and will inflict misery in those who are suffering from these diseases.
If President Obama was truly interested in reducing health care costs he could get his head wrapped around the idea that Adult Stem Cells is the only clear choice for curing diseases clearly without rejection factors.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops spokes person Richard Doeflinger opposes the use of embroyonic stem cells for obvious reasons. Doeflinger called this announcement a “political event” and stated the science is moving in the opposite direction. He went on to explain that cells grown from skin and other research has proven that stem cells can be taken from fat as in dogs, or blood or bone marrow from one’s own body.
Collins again refuses this statement and said ” embryonic stem cells possess unique potention and illuminate induced cell line research. It bodes well that the NIH will delay and stall any stem cell research having to do with ASC, and they are clearly on a path of delay and potentially using up grant money that will prove fruitless. In the long run using your own stem cells is ideal and there are no rejection factors or delays from the government.
While foreign countries surpass us in research and are already doing treatments that are proving to cure diseases such as arthritis by using the healing factors of adult stem cells they will be the pioneers of cures not the NIH, the FDA or the CDC. These agencies primarily are responsible for delays and taking doctors in the US to court for no reason.
The FDA has recently gone and proposed legislation that would make your own stem cells a drug under their jurisdiction. This is obviously not in the better interests of science or human health nor will it advance to a cure for diseases. The FDA taking legal action against doctors, researchers, scientists and foreign professionals is delaying treatments and causing deaths in people suffering from these damaging diseases.
It is time for the Obama government to get with the program and not be persuade by influence peddling agencies who’s sole purpose is to keep perpetuating disease, to sell drugs and vaccines. This is the commercialism of medicine that has caused deaths and diseases to continue to plague American life.
